ARENA | Archive of Emperor Norton in Art, Music & Film
Visual Arts
Virtually from the outset of his Empire — starting in the early 1860s — Emperor Norton has been taken up as a subject for visual artists.
As part of its Archive of Emperor Norton in Art, Music & Film (ARENA), The Emperor Norton Trust (previously The Emperor's Bridge Campaign) seeks to collect and present here a digital chronology of the best of as many of these artworks as we can find.
There currently are a total of 214 works across the following galleries. (Nearly all of the Public Art images are "cross-tabbed" from the other galleries.)
