Your $35 membership will provide essential funding that will help the Trust to advance our broad-based program of
Original research and documentation about the life and legacy of Emperor Norton via published articles; our digital ARchive of Emperor Norton in Art, Music & Film (ARENA); and our interactive Emperor Norton Map of the World
Educational programming and commemorative gatherings (see our Events pages)
Longer-term projects (a compilation album of “Emperor songs”! books! more!)
Advocacy to persuade San Francisco decision makers to designate “Emperor Norton Tower” as the honorary name of the clock tower of the San Francisco Ferry Building in 2023 — the 125th anniversary of the building
You'll get a special Emissary card that you can use to start conversations about Emperor Norton and the work of the Trust.
For the time being, the Trust is producing events via Zoom. But, as COVID restrictions lift and we’re able to start gathering in person again, your Emissary card also will entitle you to free admission to all of our own regular ticketed events and free or reduced admission to special events the Trust produces with partner institutions for a full 12 months after you join. (Standard admission to these events is $10 per event.)
Our events range from educational offerings — both illustrated lectures that we call Chamber Talks and onsite Field Talks ("walking tours without the walk") — to more commemorative gatherings like the Emperor's birthday.
