Virtually from the outset of his Empire — starting in the early 1860s — Emperor Norton has been taken up as a subject for visual artists.

As part of its Archive of Emperor Norton in Art, Music & Film (ARENA), The Emperor's Bridge Campaign seeks to collect and present here a digital chronology of the best of as many of these artworks as we can find.

There currently are a total of 118 works across the following galleries. (The Public Art images are "cross-tabbed" from the other galleries.)
